Leading technical committee's including Queensland Health developed AS/NZS 2500:2020 Safe use of medical electrical equipment in health care. This standard sets out a guildeline for the safe use of electrical medical equipment in patient care in Australia, and leads directly to AS/NZS 3003:2011 Electrical installations - Patient areas.
Patient areas are those where the risk of an electric shock hazard are greatly increased due to a procedure that reduces the protection inherent in the impedance of our skin. AS/NZS 3003:2011 lists the following areas to be wired as body-protected electrical areas:
